![]() Empathy is defined as the ability to share how another person feels and being able to relate to the experience another person has. empathy, compassion, and justice sought by Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck). One important theme explored in Lee's novel is empathy. Atticus is forced to admit the former is not as true as he would like when Tom is convicted despite the robust defense Atticus provides, but his faith in the latter remains by the end of the book. One of To Kill a Mockingbirds main themes is racism.
